Scar tissue will form as a wound heals whenever skin is broken by accident or surgery. Unsightly wounds and resultant scars can occur on the eyelids or around the eye. Patients sometimes experience adverse effects as a result of this, including difficulty in closing the eyelids, drooping eyelids (ptosis), eyelid margin notches, and misdirected lashes. With eye plastic surgery, many of these associated scar problems can be corrected or improved. Some of these procedures can be done in the office. However, more significant procedures are done in the operating room as an outpatient.
